Several National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents swooped down on Cedric Lee’s residence on West Greenhills, San Juan to serve the warrant of arrest for the serious illegal detention case, a non-bailable offense, in connection with the Vhong Navarro mauling incident but failed to find him there.

The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Paz Esperanza Cortes of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 against Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, Jed Fernandez, Zimmer Raz and Ferdinand Guerrero.

Not included in the arrest warrant for the serious illegal detention case were Bernice Lee and JP Calma as the court is still deliberating their culpability. However, they are included in the warrant of arrest for the Grave Coercion case issued by Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) Branch 74 Judge Bernard Bernal.

The NBI agents, failing to locate Cedric Lee, spoke to a maid who told them Lee had not been there for quite a while now. However, the agents saw Cedric’s sister, Bernice, inside the residence and invited her for questioning.

Bernice Lee was not able to show proof that she posted bail for the Grave Coercion case so the NBI agents arrested her. Only Deniece Cornejo and Jed Fernadez were able to post bail of P12,000 each for the coercion case.

According to print and broadcast journalist Tony Calvento, Bernice Lee has not posted bail so she will have to spend the night in a jail since she was arrested at 7:00 p.m. last night when courts were already closed.

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice announced Monday, April 21, that one of the seven accused in the Vhong Navarro mauling incident will turn state witness to testify against Cedric Lee and others. The DOJ is also fast tracking the suspect’s enrollment to the government’s Witness Protection Program.
